10 Debate Points For Farmers Are Better Than Traders

Farmers Are Better Than Traders

1. Farmers Provide Food, The Most Important Need Of Man

Without farmers, there will be no food for traders to even sell. Farmers produce rice, yams, beans, vegetables, and all the things that sustain human life. If we don’t eat, we cannot survive, but we can live without trading. That means farmers hold the foundation of survival itself.

On the other hand, traders depend on what farmers produce to make money. If farmers stop working for just one month, hunger will kill both traders and buyers. So, when you compare the two, farmers are better than traders because they give us life itself.

2. Farmers Create Employment For More People

Farming employs millions of people directly and indirectly. From planting, weeding, harvesting, to processing, farmers give jobs to labourers, transporters, and even factory workers. This makes farming the backbone of the economy.

Traders mostly benefit themselves and maybe one or two apprentices in their shops. The wide employment that farming provides shows that farmers are better than traders and also useful to society than traders.

3. Farmers Contribute To National Development

Agriculture is one of the biggest contributors to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of many countries. It also boosts foreign exchange when crops are exported. This makes farming a driver of national growth.

Traders only circulate what has already been produced. They don’t add as much to the nation’s GDP as farmers do. So, farmers are better than traders because they play a more important role in the progress of a country.

4. Farmers Promote Health And Nutrition

By providing fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, and animal products, farmers ensure that people eat balanced diets. Healthy food means healthy citizens, and healthy citizens make a strong nation.

Traders, however, can sell unhealthy products like expired goods or even harmful chemicals. Farmers provide natural and life-giving products, which proves they are better.

5. Farmers Are Harder-Working And More Disciplined

Farming requires waking up early, sweating under the sun, and putting in serious effort before reaping results. This shows that farmers are disciplined and committed people.

Meanwhile, many traders only sit in their shops waiting for customers. This does not require as much sacrifice as farming. That is why farmers deserve more respect because farmers are better than traders.

6. Farmers Preserve Culture And Tradition

In many societies, farming is part of the people’s tradition. Festivals, rituals, and even cultural practices are tied to agriculture. Farming connects people to their land and roots.

Traders do not preserve such traditions. They only focus on profit-making. Farmers are better than traders because they play a bigger role in keeping culture alive.

7. Farmers Reduce Poverty More Than Traders

A farmer with a small piece of land can feed his family, sell the extra, and live a stable life. Farming ensures that even the poorest man can survive without depending on anyone.

A trader without money to buy goods has nothing to sell. But a farmer with soil and seeds can still survive. This makes farming a better way to fight poverty than trading.

8. Farmers Promote Self-reliance

Farming makes a nation independent. If a country produces its own food, it doesn’t need to beg or import from other countries. That brings pride and stability.

Trading, however, depends on imports. Traders rely on what others have produced, making them dependent. Farmers are, therefore, more powerful in making a nation self-reliant.

9. Farmers Are The Real Foundation Of Trade

Before trade exists, something must be produced. Farmers produce crops and livestock, which later reach markets. Without them, traders would have empty shops.

This means that farmers are the real foundation, while traders are just middlemen. If the foundation is stronger, it is obviously better.

10. Farmers Contribute To Environmental Sustainability

Through tree planting, crop rotation, and caring for the soil, farmers help to protect the environment. They make sure that the land continues to produce for future generations.

Traders don’t add anything to the environment. In fact, some traders even pollute by using plastics and chemicals. Farmers are better than traders because they have a more positive impact on nature.
